Equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs recruits Albion to boost awareness

Equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs has called in Albion Drive to strengthen its connections with entrepreneurs and start-ups seeking investment.

Albion will raise awareness of the UK-based company in the business and tech press. It will work on a retained basis alongside Seedrs’ financial and investment PR agency, Beacon Strategic Communications, which is led by former Virgin Money head of PR Martin Campbell.

The platform, which aims to make seed-stage investment opportunities more widely available to potential investors and entrepreneurs, is seeking to attract interest from the wider tech and start-up community.

Seedrs CEO Jeff Lynn said: ‘As a two-sided marketplace, building up a base of investors and entrepreneurs, we want the best people helping us reach our two target markets.’

Since launching last year, Seedrs has raised £1.4m for 27 projects. It is the first equity crowdfunding platform to gain regulatory approval and is one of the founding members of the UK Crowdfunding Association, which recently called in public affairs help from Camberton to promote the industry.

Advisers to the company include Zopa co-founder James Alexander, TechCrunch European editor Mike Butcher and entrepreneur Dale Murray.

Albion Drive founder Bryce Keane added: ‘Seedrs is democratising investment. By providing an equity-based crowdfunding platform, Seedrs has created a new route to funding for start-ups that relies on the masses, rather than being in the hands of a small few.

‘We are thrilled to be working with such an innovative and professional company, which is playing such an integral part in building the UK’s start-up ecosystem.’
