Thank you, first and foremost, for your interest in the UK Crowdfunding Association.

In 2013, the UK Crowdfunding Association was formed with the purpose of promoting the interests of crowdfunding platforms, their investors and clients.  We, as members, champion crowdfunding as a viable funding avenue for projects and businesses operating in the United Kingdom.  The UK Crowdfunding Association is lobbying for a regulatory landscape which strikes the balance between consumer protection whilst also allowing consumers and businesses to achieve their specific motivations.

We believe in financial inclusion.  Our ultimate objective is to keep the crowd in crowdfunding.

The UK Crowdfunding Association represents crowdfunding platforms with operations in the UK.  Members, whether regulated by the FCA, or currently outside the scope of current regulation, agree to adhere to the UK Crowdfunding Association code of conduct.

An additional requirement for membership is the recognition that appropriate and proportionate regulation is essential for UK crowdfunding.  We believe that financial inclusion is achieved through the democratisation of finance giving control back to the people over how and where their money is invested.  This will ensure the integrity and reputation of crowdfunding, as it develops into a more mature financial sector.

The UK Crowdfunding Association is a company limited by guarantee, registered in England & Wales (company number 08554391).

Full membership is open to operational crowdfunding platform providers of all types (donation, debt, equity etc). for an annual fee of £600 for applications received by 30 June 2014.  This covers the costs of the UK Crowdfunding Association’s promotional and lobbying activities.  It also ensures that members can develop a united voice with which to promote the interests of all members, collectively.  Full members are company law members of the UK Crowdfunding Association and have statutory rights to call and attend members’ meetings and can, amongst other things, appoint and dismiss Directors.  Details are set out in our Articles of Association, a copy of which is available upon request.

Supporter membership is open to individuals, businesses and other organisations who are actively engaged in the sector and who can contribute to the UK Crowdfunding Association’s objectives.  Supporters will be given the opportunity to collaborate on policy, participate in debates and have priority access to conferences and events.  Supporters pay an annual subscription of £600 until 30 June 2014.  In exceptional circumstances, contributions in kind, could be a substitute for this fee.

From 1st July, 2014, the following fees will apply for membership and supporter membership respectively.  The fees are payable on a full 12 month year basis from the month of  joining.
