Report: The future of crowdfunding
Crowdfunding is one of the hottest topics for startups looking to raise investment. Some believe it could be a potential lifeline for startups unable to access bank lending or venture capital.
The industry has gone from strength to strength, with Nesta reporting over £200m was raised through crowdfunding platforms in 2012.
Earlier this year we held our first roundtable on the subject and brought together leaders and experts from across the industry to discuss the opportunities, challenges and future for crowdfunding in the UK.
Key highlights from the report
In association with KPMG, we’ve produced a free downloadable report, outlining the key facts you need to know. Here are some of the key highlights:
- Some believe it’s the lending of last resort, but we found some startups that turned down VC and bank lending in favour of crowdfunding
- The industry is attracting investors from the top 20% earners in the UK, including financiers, lawyers and doctors
- Investors favour startups with a ‘pleasure factor’, food, entertainment and gadget projects have so far raised the most cash
